Sightseeing

Serbia used to be, and still is major European intersection. Unfortunately, but logically, throughout its history it served as European battlefield, also. Therefore, tourists can expect traces of different cultures from prehistoric and ancient times until present that will capture their attention in professionally guided sightseeing tours.

Local guides working on different languages present sights of interest with enfaces on Belgrade as the capital and one of a kind melting pot of regional cultural influences located on a unique hill above Sava and Danube River. Also known as Singidunum from Ancient times, Belgrade is one of the oldest cities in Europe, generating stories that will attract visitors to come back over and over again and enjoy one of the best European clubbing scenes alongside with interesting cousin.

As opposed to Oriental Belgrade, capital of Vojvodina province, Novi Sad is completely „European“ experience. Together with mighty Petrovaradin Fortress also known as the Gibraltar on the River Danube, Novi Sad has always been Serbian cultural avant garde, hence the nickname „Serbian Athens“. As such, Novi Sad and Petrovaradin host probably the largest cultural event in the region – Exit festival that attracts several thousands visitors every year.

Sumadija region south from Belgrade hides interesting sights among picturesque hills covered with vineyards that are  historically connected with anti Turkish rebellions. There is a wonderful Karadjordjevic Royal complex with monumental mausoleum church and several Royal villas while nearby Bukovicka Banja Spa with enchanting spa park rounds up this destinations

Southern Serbia concentrates around town of Nis that is usually associated with Ancient Roman heritage and above all with Emperor Constantine the Great. Since then, when it was known as Naissus it has been an important crossroads connecting Europe and Asia Minor. Amongst other attractions of the region, Djavolja Varos features incredible rock formations usually associated with numerous legends.

Western Serbia is best known for unspoiled nature, national parks and crystal clear waters of beautiful river Drina. As such, this Bosnia – Serbia border region inspired Ivo Andric to write The Bridge on the river Drina and other novels that earned him Nobel Prize for literature in 1961. Western Serbia still continues to inspire creative spirit. After filming Life is a Miracle movie in 2004, famous director Emir Kusturica made Mecavnik complex his home available for visits that together with historic narrow track railway makes unique experience for people all over the world. Just as Western, Eastern Serbia is all about nature and Djerdap national park with incredible Danube Gorge – the site of arguably the first European civilization known as Lepenski Vir.
